SUMMER
Haha on Friday I went to gym before work and i didnt give myself enough time to cool down so I looked like a tomato for like an hour and the chefs were just making jokes of me, they could have served me right with the spaghetti, Im not kidding, thats how bad it was. Well I just spent like 10 minutes in the cold room, that helped a little. I see it from the bright side, I have good circulation in my face SCOOORE, haha!
And now I just came back from a swim from a friends place who lives around the corner, too hot to study today and what would be a better break than a swim, exactly, nothing. Ok but NOW im back to study, so enough stories about sweating. I know thats random but it was an experience which the world MUST know, hehe. Ok back to cardiorespiratory prac techniques....nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Endspurt 3rd year
I will have to revise a s**** load before I can continue to 4th year so I will have to bring my notes but because my luggage allowance is obviously restricted I had to come up with a plan which implied getting my notes binded, well, at least the very important subjects, I only did like half of the subjects but everything is so organized now, real proud and feel really nerdy :-P So I will just take a few of these massive booklets home...
I had the big cardio respiratory theroy exam today and it went good I think. This is the hardest subject because it is all the theory that is behind treating patient in ICU which is A LOT considering that they often are between life and death and really usually are not that stable and connected to a million machines and at risk of a lot of conditions WHICH we all have to know and understand. SO many numbers and safety issues, precautions, contraindications, side effects bla bla bla but I think I will appreciate it when I see a patient who is not feeling very well and I have to try and improve his status.
Anyway, I have another exam on friday, which is prac exam for cervical spine, again a tough one, especially technique wise, soooo hard and we are not really good at it yet, AT ALL, but it will be enough to get through the exam. I am a bit worried about that one but we'll see. T
hen next week Wednesday it is cardio-respiratory prac exam so that applying all the exercises and machines to the critical ill patient. That should be ok, not rocket science especially once u understand the theory behind it, just again, a shit load of safety issues you have to consider and if you forget, FAIL. Thats scarry but a clear head and being calm is my recipe for approaching these sort of exams. Stressing out just makes u inaccurate und forget things so OMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM :) We even ventilate patients, manually with a bag. In the exam we have a dummy and gloves and the O2, an assitant all the tubes etc and then we are actually allowed to disconnect an unconsciuos patient from his oxygen, connect the bag and then manually inflate him with the technique we think suits him ie lung compliance, rate, pressure, hold, release etc meaning I AM MANUALLY giving this patient O2, and if i stop squeezing the bag or if i forget to press that valve at the correct timing with the other hand he DOES NOT GET OXYGEN?? that freaks me out. Or we put a tube down to his lungs, attach to a machine that create negative pressure, additionally create a suction rhythm by opening and closing valve with thumb, and then while doing all this slowly drawing the tube out and thus removing secretions. This has to happen within 15 seconds because in that technique the patient does not get any oxygen, even scarrier. BUT GOOD FUN too, really exciting stuff. And you have to wear the whole surgical gown, glasses, gloves and then a sterile glove on top of the other one and then u cant touch anything otherwise u contaminate it but the inside of the package with the catheter or the catheter itself. I tell you, thats so hard with all the tubes, coordination required and BANG already contaminated with something. In the exam we can say that we contaminated and we wont fail but we have to recognize it cos u cant put a tube down someones throat that is not 100% sterile obviously.
Ok so much to that and then on thursday we have a bla bla exam about community based physio. bla bla bla. havent even looked at it. Will only read thru the lecture notes the day before, havent even printed all of them due to absence....*räusper*, ohoh, but that should be easy. AND THEN I AM DONE AND DONESKY!!!!!!!!!!

Physio Ball as 3rd years
Roweena, our favourite lecturer, our physio mum, had her birthday that night and EVERYONE just loves her. She is wicked. Anyway, Jared held a speech and the whole room with like 200 guests ish were screaming and clapping when she came on the stage and then we all sang her happy birthday and gave her the biggest hip-hip- HURRAAAYYY i have ever heard. She cried, it was touching. And she always comes to our parties, even to some private 21sts, she is always there and just lovely.
pretty girlsNot sure if you remember, but that was my MASSIVE weekend. I was playing volleyball till 6pm, rushed home as soon as I had the medal around my neck and got ready within half an hour including hair. I came home to these three girl having occupied the bathroom for the past two hours. Getting ready together is always good fun. Thank god we had maysam cos she is an expert with hair in comparison to us useless and impatient girls.

Sweet young Maysam (she only turns 20 in November) oh I am ooooold. She will graduate with 21!!!! insane!
Sabba and me....Maysam and her are our Muslim girl we have in our course
our deal included free drink from 7pm till midnight including beer, wine and sparkling. Orange juice and sparkling it was, for the rest of the night, in masses...oh and Jägerbombs in between, OF COURSE, haha. If you go out with Eva-Linn, they are a must and you will NEVER go home without having them. Friday, October 16, 2009

Mein erstes Mal....

I love her. Come on Team Sharp/Guenkel!!!!
Montag Uni??? Ähm....nooooope! =) LOVE LIFE =)! Wünscht mir Glück für heute und morgen!

Oktoberfest in Brisbane
Bretzen....well kind of...not the real stuff but close enough. We also had lots of Gummibärchen as dessert and german "humbaba" music. Very authentic =)
Our motto of the night was "the four B's, beer, bretzen, boobs and bratwurst" LOL and i introduced the handle rule stating that the first sip u take from your beer has to be so much that when u tip the stein on the handle nothing tips over....i think that could partly the reason why everyone got so smashed. oh well, thats what happens, just like on the real oktoberfest
our food table with big green mixed salad, potatoe salad, nürnberger bratwürste, mustard and bread rolls and NO BBQ sauce, hehe...must have been hard for the aussies.. the steins that are holding the cutlery are REAL ones from Papa. He gave them to Ryan as a present.
I found a german restaurant that actually produce their own meat and bread. He is a butcher and praised his nürnberger rostbratwürste on his menu so i asked him if i could buy a whole lot cos im having an oktoberfest. So i got 5 kilos and i have to admitt, they tasted bloody awesome, real real, soooooo happy about that. I could finally show what REAL sausages are meant to taste like since here, the major ingredient is rubbish and fat, nothing compared to the stuff from home. AND everyone loved it, SCOOOORE! I should become a saleswoman, everything I promote, is usually successfull, even in the restaurant, when I tell the customers the daily specials, they very often have the whole menu of specials and I always convince everyone to have garlic bread to start and dessert or coffee to finish.
Michael, Ryan's former flatmate, Ryan with his Deutschland scarve and Mandy, a good friend from Volleyball. In 2006 we cought up with her in Klagenfurt for the World Championships of Beachvolleyball
Mark, one of my supervisor/team leaders from work, but also good friend and now also ryan's flatmate. I organized that and now he is living in an awesome shared house with amazing view, really nice place and really nice people. Uhm...ja...and wearing Niall's head, I think the bear is got INTO my head as well then lol.
afterparty in a club for the strong crew that was still standing, in comparison to a few others who didnt even make it out or had to leave the club 10 mins after we arrived, is that right, eva? haha...so here we have Sara's little sis Hayley and Agneska, Eva's friend from Norway who is staying with us for 2 months travelling around an enjoying summer in Oz AND cooking for us when we come home, very handy. Nuh just kidding..what a crazy night, I tell ya!! Super succesfull and everyone had soo much fun!
