Seoul

Train to Frankfurt was sooo full so that i had to stand in the connection thingos (oh ja anna, wheres the english huh?) but cld sit on the stairs for second part so that wasnt too bed. flight from frankfurt to seoul was smooth, watched three movies: love happens (sure thing...), the burning plain and Im Winter ein Jahr...and ate bimbimbap for dinner and green tea rice porridge for breaky, prefer the german breakfast :) so its all going good, i do like the travelling, always amazed about jumping the continents, leave on world and walk thru the stargate into a total different one within a day, cross half of the globe, i like that. ok hanging out on the internet for a little, try and sleep, find some more yummy korean food and then i will already be on the plane again. talk to you later, everyone!

'To get something you never had, you have to do something you never did.'

When God takes something from your grasp, He's not punishing you, but merely opening your hands to receive something better.

'The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.'

My little monsters

Leonie Anna being defeated, Max Kim being the winner, my sister Bianca and me on the world's best sofa =)

They never become tired....I love kids but I dont think I could handle them 24/7 yet ;)

Leonie was soo cute the other day:
"So why are u in `stralia?"
"I have to go to uni and learn for my future job"
"U know what aunty Anna, I personally like Australia a lot too, for holidays and stuff BUT i think schools and universities are NOT nice over there. U should be doing it here. I dont want that u go away!"
u should have heard her, how she said it...*seufz*
"And aunty anna, are u long with us in Deuschland this time?"
"Yes it is a fair while"
"And next time when u come, can u stay soooo long?" making the gesture with her arms
"I will try and maybe I will be here for long"
"ok, then you have to stay one million hundred thousand days" Leonie can count to 20 so far so I think she wants me to stay. These things make your heart melt....

Schneeeee

I have been so lucky this year with the weather, we have had snow for quite a while now and i wish I was a child again, go sleighriding, roll around in the snow, make snow angels (with the face down...well i was hot...) hm, if i think about it, my 23 years are not stopping me.....yiiihaaaa....but my ankle :( so then i have to say im happy that im older cos a simple walk thru the snow and sugar coated forests satisfies me, too.

if it continues like it does, I will go from SNOW to HEAT....could be interesting.

Happy birthday Mama

Standing proud upon a shelf
A photograph I see
The image of my mother’s face
Smiling back at me
Just a faded photograph
I look at every day
But if those lips could speak
I know exactly what they’d say

“ Now’s the time to pack away
The sorrow and the pain
I’ve had my life you must live yours
It’s time to smile again
Place the hurtful things that happened
Firmly in the past
And make the happy times we shared
The memories that last
But take a moment now and then
To think of me a while
Hold my faded photograph
And don’t forget to smile.”

U will never be forgotten!

The A-Team

perfect plan. Chrissi (to the left) and me drove to Stuttgart to Co's place (right) on Sunday morning and had a big breaky (thanks to Co again, it was delicious) and big girl's catch up. We went to the christmas markets, went out for lunch, checked out the city and were finally united again. The rest of the week I stayed with Co because I organized a job, so that w came in really handy.

That was my crew for the week where I worked on the metal fair (super interesting stuff...not) in Stuttgart. We had to do service was pretty easy, the colleagues from our company were really friendly, too. And the best part was that I stayed with my best friend, Corinna, so I killed two birds with one stone: earning money and spending time with my Co.

Some thoughts of mine

I wish emotions would be logical.
You could just find a solution
solve them
have some sort of control
not only distract yourself
ignore it
play on
be strong
occasionally loose some tears
when the happenings of the day are passed
thoughts exposed to reality
you exposed to your thoughts
the clothes of your outer core stripped off
naked to your innerself
weak and sentimental falling asleep
true emotions finding their way out.
One day they must be exhausted
that's only logical.....

End of semester/3rd year-/theory pool celebrations

hat birthday party

My brother Felix with a real indian turban and his girlfriend with my real Aussie hat

premier for "Jägerbombs" I tried to introduce them to our all time favourite. At that time they loved it....a bit later....hm maybe not sooo much anymore. I think I cite the slogan of Fishermans friends here: are they too strong, u are too weak- hihi.

i put on my blondie character, what a disguise, so inventive.

Felix's friends. I did have a hat initially, but the jägerbombs made everyone so cheerful that they thought they gotta try and swap with everyone cos its sooo cool to interchange sweat samples, me included. In my defence tho, it WAS fun ;)

there u go... blond or dark hair? hm still dont know

The same procedure as last year, Miss Sophie?

"The same procedure as every year, James"

That just popped into my mind cos as every year, Papa and me baked christmas cookies

Snow for the cookies and snow for us too. Last week we had snow and down to -17° C, that was unreal

the endresult

we had the big "welcome meal" for the whole family on the same day as the cookie baking, the kitchen looked like after bomb attack (german saying)

A food lesson for u aussies, watch and learn :)

Kim, Felix, Andrea and myself about to start indulging this real frankonian (the region around nuremberg) meal.

voila, the perfect "schäufele with dumplings and savoy cabbage and gravy" looks massive, doesnt it? but still....mhmmmmmmmm. The dumplings are made of potatoes and have a piece of toasted bread inside. The cabbage is just cooked and blended. A meal full of softness, dont need to chew too much, haha.

The schäufele is the shoulder of the pig and its super tender, just comes off the bone like that and then there is the crust, aspect number 2 the schäufele is famous for: also really yummy. Not the best for your health but thats why it is something special, cant have it everyday. and then the whole "big thing" is finished with a very declicious gravy. hungry ;) ?

although we all nearly seemed to explode, we did manage dessert. everyone who knows Anna banana, knows there is no real meal without dessert, thats just not on =)

6th of Dec- St Nicholas

My sisters hubby to the left, and Max Kim and Leonie Anna, my nephew and niece+ godchild, they grew sooo much since last year.

Papa as "Nikolaus" and my brother Felix played the "Knecht Rupprecht" (his helper). We have the tradition that they come on the 6th of December. Good kids get presents and the naughty ones will be put into his big sack/bag. To please the Nikolaus the kids are supposed to tell him a little poem, play something on an instrument or sing a song. Felix and Papa came from the cold dark making lots of noise to my sister's house. There were 3 families with little kids and us Günkels. Was good fun espiecially the dressing up part with everything we could findd at home and the kids made biiiiig eyes :-O

here is the whole story (click it)

The popular Papa Frühstück

everything was there again on my first morning, Brezen, breadrolls, "sausages" and ham, cheese, jam, eggs, danishes, joghurt, fresh orange juice....and papa

SUMMER

ok I thought I am a very clever girl, get up at 6:45, start studying on the balcony at 7, do one session, go for a run at 9am. Well it was already so hot when I went outside that I decided to go bit earlier but still....this happened.

I needed to protocol that, I have NEVER sweat that much IN MY LIFE. U know there are stages of sweating: a bit under your arms, a bit on other spots, then u get to the point where the sweating stains actually decide to like each other and they "mingle" all over on your shirt :) then comes the level where your skin is shiny everywhere followed by having droplets sitting on your forearms, forehead and I dont wanna know where else :-P and THEN there is the stage where u just drip, not only from your head tho, from everywhere, that was me. I could not believe how much i was sweating, I could have watered plans....I'm serious....it was an orchestra of "drop drop drop"- although i might have killed them cos when I licked over my lips I nearly died from a salt shock, I was massively dehydrated. The run itself was still ok tho, not too hard at all but I did pace myself and did a longer but low intensity run. Anyway, that was my start of my second last study day today, I was quite impressed. And the pic above is the result, omg so sweaty, sun kissed skin, wet ALL over, big 1.5 litre water belly and red face but i always get that anyway.

Haha on Friday I went to gym before work and i didnt give myself enough time to cool down so I looked like a tomato for like an hour and the chefs were just making jokes of me, they could have served me right with the spaghetti, Im not kidding, thats how bad it was. Well I just spent like 10 minutes in the cold room, that helped a little. I see it from the bright side, I have good circulation in my face SCOOORE, haha!

And now I just came back from a swim from a friends place who lives around the corner, too hot to study today and what would be a better break than a swim, exactly, nothing. Ok but NOW im back to study, so enough stories about sweating. I know thats random but it was an experience which the world MUST know, hehe. Ok back to cardiorespiratory prac techniques....nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Endspurt 3rd year

Wow it is so hard to believe but I am so close to be finished with the "theoretical" part of my studies. That is just amazing. Where did the time go? I should have ALL the information in my brain, theoretically, haha, to treat any patient, which is obviously unrealistic because we will learn most by being out there and being exposed to the real stuff but still, it is quite a big step from here on. I have only 4 big exams this year, really not much for us at all, we used to have like 7-8 but 4 is just normal and I dont mind to be just normal :)

I will have to revise a s**** load before I can continue to 4th year so I will have to bring my notes but because my luggage allowance is obviously restricted I had to come up with a plan which implied getting my notes binded, well, at least the very important subjects, I only did like half of the subjects but everything is so organized now, real proud and feel really nerdy :-P So I will just take a few of these massive booklets home...

I had the big cardio respiratory theroy exam today and it went good I think. This is the hardest subject because it is all the theory that is behind treating patient in ICU which is A LOT considering that they often are between life and death and really usually are not that stable and connected to a million machines and at risk of a lot of conditions WHICH we all have to know and understand. SO many numbers and safety issues, precautions, contraindications, side effects bla bla bla but I think I will appreciate it when I see a patient who is not feeling very well and I have to try and improve his status.

Anyway, I have another exam on friday, which is prac exam for cervical spine, again a tough one, especially technique wise, soooo hard and we are not really good at it yet, AT ALL, but it will be enough to get through the exam. I am a bit worried about that one but we'll see. T

hen next week Wednesday it is cardio-respiratory prac exam so that applying all the exercises and machines to the critical ill patient. That should be ok, not rocket science especially once u understand the theory behind it, just again, a shit load of safety issues you have to consider and if you forget, FAIL. Thats scarry but a clear head and being calm is my recipe for approaching these sort of exams. Stressing out just makes u inaccurate und forget things so OMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM :) We even ventilate patients, manually with a bag. In the exam we have a dummy and gloves and the O2, an assitant all the tubes etc and then we are actually allowed to disconnect an unconsciuos patient from his oxygen, connect the bag and then manually inflate him with the technique we think suits him ie lung compliance, rate, pressure, hold, release etc meaning I AM MANUALLY giving this patient O2, and if i stop squeezing the bag or if i forget to press that valve at the correct timing with the other hand he DOES NOT GET OXYGEN?? that freaks me out. Or we put a tube down to his lungs, attach to a machine that create negative pressure, additionally create a suction rhythm by opening and closing valve with thumb, and then while doing all this slowly drawing the tube out and thus removing secretions. This has to happen within 15 seconds because in that technique the patient does not get any oxygen, even scarrier. BUT GOOD FUN too, really exciting stuff. And you have to wear the whole surgical gown, glasses, gloves and then a sterile glove on top of the other one and then u cant touch anything otherwise u contaminate it but the inside of the package with the catheter or the catheter itself. I tell you, thats so hard with all the tubes, coordination required and BANG already contaminated with something. In the exam we can say that we contaminated and we wont fail but we have to recognize it cos u cant put a tube down someones throat that is not 100% sterile obviously.

Ok so much to that and then on thursday we have a bla bla exam about community based physio. bla bla bla. havent even looked at it. Will only read thru the lecture notes the day before, havent even printed all of them due to absence....*räusper*, ohoh, but that should be easy. AND THEN I AM DONE AND DONESKY!!!!!!!!!!

ONLY exciting stuff to come:
thursday after exam straight to pool party
at noon to croquet party all in white of course (remember, they play that in alice in wonderland) including eating and drinking and drinking and celebrating

THEN i will just CHILLAAAAAXXXXXXXXXX on the plane, eat and watch movies WOP WOP cannot wait. I like flying because noone disturbs you, no phone, no internet, just yoursef with food and entertainment. I LIKE

I will stop over in Seoul and a mate from uni (austrian) is on the same plane and stays in asia for a while THUS he is taking me out in Seoul for that night, then i go back to the provided hotel, eat and sleep (haha again) and fly out to Frankfurt the next morning
