A drrraaaum *seufz*

Monday morning, after our big night out for Kelly's birthday- will post pics for that later- I had to be in Brisbane for my job training- more about that later as well- at 10 am. I organized trains and busses, got up at 7am, had a long shower and then went to the beach. It was soo nice, the sun was just above the horizon...herrlich.


I know you guys think, I've had all sorts of beaches for a long time already but you don't get over it, not at all. Wild and endless beaches are just my favourite. I was so excited and then when I saw this,

I was just smiling. So put my workpants up, left my thongs and jumped into the sand that is so fine that it makes a funny noise when you walk through it. So thankful to have that here. Went for a little walk, put my feet into the water, had some deep breaths and thought, what a start in the day, I'm more than ready for it :) Can't wait to play some Beach Volleyball Events at the coast. Have one this weekend actually, my first one- ohoh!

Hey everybody

Soooo schön

ach ja, das war unser Kleiderschrank für die letzten Wochen, aus der Maschine auf die Leine auf das Sofa....

Es wird wieder warm, sooo schön, haben nun immer so 32 Grad, was der Anna schon sehr taugt =) Hab heute gleich mal meine afternoon classes geskippt weil das Wetter einfach zu schön war...naughty, I know! Noch 3 Tage, dann habe ich eine Woche midsemester break. In der Uni zeigt sich der blühende Frühling auch in zahlreichen Facetten, alles blüht, hier und da um unsere Seen crossen Enten mit ihren Küken die Straße- sooo goldig- andere Vögel greifen dich an und kreiscen weil sie Angst um ihre Kleinen haben- nicht soo schön :) - und da wir ein bißchen Regen hatten blüht auch alles wieder sehr schön. Heute als ich aus dem Bus ausgestiegen bin, hab ich gleich mal meine Schuhe ausgezogen und bin barfuss heim. Finde ich sehr gut, dass es nicht nur warm ist, also so um die 20 Grad sondern wieder sommerlich warm, das hellt meine Stimmung doch ungemein auf. Noch dazu kommt, dass ich wieder angefangen habe zu trainieren, voll supi. Hab es echt soo vermisst gehabt aber jetzt kann ich endlich mal wieder die morning sessions machen und der aufgehenden Sonne entgegenlächeln während ich meiner Lieblingsbeschäftigung, im Sandwälzen und Bälle schlagen und rauskratzen, nachgehen.

Neulich an der trainstation bin ich diesem fellow begegnet...does that look Aussie or what....haha...so typisch: shorts, singlet und barefoot und einfach 100% laid back

Kaum war ich ein paar Tage wieder zurück in der Uni, werde ich schon mit der freudigen Nachricht konfrontiert, wir hätten ja in zwei Wochen schon wieder anatomy- midsemester-exam :-O Da hätte ich ja mal gar nicht dran gedacht, war nicht wirklich organisiert für die Anfangszeit, oder ein bisschen verplant, wir manche es wohl lieber nennen wollen... Von dem Tag an dem ich das aufgeschnappt hatte, hieß es wieder, studying studying in jeder freien Minute. So wurden meine Arbeitspausen, Abende nach der Uni- bin fast immer bis 5 Uhr sowieso schon drin*ächz*- und vorallem Busfahrten mit Lernen ausgefüllt. Anatomie ist, wie ihr euch vielleicht noch erinnern könnt, das schwerste subject schlechthin mit einer guten Durchfallrate und den absolut scarrysten exams ever, die stations mit dem tickenden Wecker hinterdir und dann auf Kommando immer wieder zur nächsten Station, nix mit Überlegen oder so....nenene....das muss alles wie aus der Pistole geschossen kommen- NOT- HAHA =) Aber ich hab eigentlich ein content feeling, ich habs nicht geaced aber es war ok und ich krieg definitiv ein pass, was ja mein Ziel war. Heute hatte ich nochmal zwei exams, eines davon practical....das war auch sehr schlimm. Alle waren super nervös: man hat einen Partner, zieht ein scenario und dann muss man in 10 Minuten die Technik präsenteren so full on physio-patient Rollenspiel quasi mit allem drum und dran...war aber auch ganz ok, paar Sachen in der Aufregung vergessen aber das müsste auch ok gewesen sein. Jetzt ist mir erstmal wieder eine riiiiiieeeesen Last von den Schultern genomme- puh- und ich kann mich mal wieder um was anderes als Uni kümmern. Das Haus hier ist bissl chaotisch, ein Mounteverest aus Klamotten, die vllt einmal zusammengelegt werden wollen, normales Haushaltszeug und natürlich das socialising mit den Freunden muss wieder aufgefrischt werden. Ich bin wieder in einem normalen Alltag und demnach ansprechbar :) Versuch mich mal bei euch zu melden und vllt auch mit dem ein oder anderen zu teln. Half- way through schon wieder im Semester, der Wahnsinn, die Zeit fliegt. Hab jetzt noch nächste Woche classes, dann eine Woche frei, dann nur noch 4 Wochen classes, 1 Woche swat vac (Lernwoche) und dann 2 Wochen exam period und dann FERTISCH, voll krass ey ;)

On the occasion of my 21st birthday, which is quite a big deal here in australia, we did something girls can always get excited about: eat :-P After I've seen how Ryan reacted on the raclette-he is so in love with this indoor-type-bbq-grill-thing- I thought, why not showing this to the girls.

To put the cherry on the cake, we topped up the culinary delight (No, I'm not exaggerating, not me, I never do that *g* ) with a delicious and big chocolate fondue *YUMMOOOOO*

we had everything, a lolly- volcano with surrounding marshmallow-hills, fresh strawberries, bananas and toasted waffles...OMG...amazing

Couldn't be better I guess. It was just awesome =) And the girls loved it, too, and got quite creativ after their first shyness "Anna, what are we supposed to do" with a big questionmark on their forehead....

Real Australian Kelly and me....she was actually the first girl that I met on our first day at uni....lucky :)

The EKKA

the cable ride over the Ekka

What the heck is the ekka?? Everybody was talking about the ekka....it means exhibition, an exciting week here in Brissi, especially for kids. It's like a huge "Volksfest" but not only with all the rides,

they also have animal shows, different competitions

that was quite impressive how quickly they chopped those trunks, especially the ones that had to work their way up to the top. They even choped the holes for their "steps" themselves.... they were swinging these huge axes like feathers....and the men were such units, massive fellows

like horseriding, "tree-choping" - forgot the term LOL, so it's quite a big thing. Its origin comes from the rural area as far as I've understood. The farmers bring all their animals for assessing who has the best and fittest and that sort of stuff.

We went there with Sally and Shaun. Sally trains with me Beachvolleyball- I'm not training at the moment though :( - and Ryan probably plays next season with Shaun. Sally was superexcited, Shaun only "allowes" her to go to the ekka every 2 years- haha- and she just went off and showed me -the ekka-virgin- around and introduced me to all the must-haves.



It's really good fun but bloody expensive,pf. There was a huge hall where you can get showbags, no not only showbags, SHOWBAGS, that's apparently THE thing to go to or better to buy at the ekka. All sorts of different brands for sweets (ALL of them), drinks, footy teams, magazines....just everything....offer their very showbags.What they are? Well, actually they are "only" plastic bags with 2 chocis, a lolly, a drink or whatever combo from that brand and then you can say you have a SHOWBAG from Cadbury (Aussi-Milka) for example....:-O cool, ay =)



"Bertie Beatly" is the king under the showbags, it's only some sort of chocolate with some honeycomb crunchies in it and you can't get this during the year, so...REAL special :) everytime I called it "just" chocolate I earned angry looks. Alltogether I couldn't quite understand the fuss about these showbags because you can buy most that stuff in the supermarket...weird...but on our way home in the train everybody was carrying these masses of showbags- must be an Aussie thing.


What you couldn't miss either, was a strawberry sunday...soft-ice-cream with strawberries on the bottom.



And as a savoury must-have there are the Pluto Pups, which are a kind of sausage- thing on a stick and you have it with tomato-sauce- pretty greasy actually but "ekkaish" :-P

spotto....a bavarian flag and "The grill" representing German food, they had sausages and sauerkraut, super exciting- haha- not for me, I wanted my "drei im weckla" ;) nothing can beat nürnberger bratwürste....no way


Thanks Sally it was an aweomse day/night, finally some more Aussie- "culture" Maybe we can sneak out next year and go without the boys LOL
